DOG PARK UPDATE
The dog park near Remington Park is slated to open this fall after grass restoration is complete.

TREE PLANTING PROGRAM
As part of the City’s tree planting program, residents can share the cost, 50/50, of a new tree to be planted in the outlawn of their yard – typically the area between the sidewalk and the street. Place your tree order by Oct. 1, with payment due Oct. 6. Learn more at eastgr.org/forestry.

GASLIGHT VILLAGE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
Get your taste buds ready for this year’s Taste of East Grand Rapids. Organized by the Gaslight Village Business Association supported by the Friends of the East Grand Rapids Library, this popular event returns 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17.
Booths will line Wealthy Street between Lovett Avenue and Lake Drive, offering attendees a sampling of local cuisine from Gaslight Village eateries and featuring local artisans, all-ages entertainment and live music from Jake and Jimmy Band.
The event benefits Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Tickets for food and entertainment options will be sold through 8 p.m.

BICYCLE DONATION DRIVE
The GVBA, in partnership with Upcycle Bikes, is hosting a donation drive for adult bicycles during the Gaslight Village Second Saturdays event from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 12 on Wealthy Street in front of the D&W parking lot. Join your neighbors in providing someone in need with a bicycle.

E-GREEN SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE
Community members are invited to the E-waste and Foam Packaging Recycling Day event 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Public Works parking lot, 2310 Reeds Lake Blvd. SE.
Foam packaging #6 expanded polystyrene will be accepted. This is mostly used for food and beverage containers and electronics and furniture packaging. Look for a triangle with the number 6 inside. Packing peanuts will only be accepted in plastic bags, with only one peanut type or color per bag. Ensure all waste is clean.
Community members can also recycle computers, laptops, tablets, circuit boards, hard drives, cell phones, VCRs, DVD players, video game systems, printers, wires and holiday string lights.
CRTVs, monitors and batteries will not be accepted.
