Wege Plaza Work
Wege Plaza behind the Community Center will be closed for several weeks beginning May 7 for the replacement of the surface material. The recycled rubber roof tile system was installed in the early 2000’s and was one of the first green roof systems in West Michigan. The tiles contracted and expanded over the years from freeze and thaw cycles, creating gaps between the tiles, which will now be replaced with a different type of water permeable material. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we update this favorite East Grand Rapids spot.

Master Plan
The City is currently updating its Master Plan, which serves as a roadmap for future land-use and planning decisions. Over the last year, the City Commission, Planning Commission, business owners and residents have all given input into this document.
The draft Master Plan is currently in a 42-day review process before being adopted by the City Commission.
Residents and business owners are invited to attend an open house to view the draft and provide input from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22 in the Commission Chambers at the Community Center.
The open house will be followed by a 5:30 p.m. joint Planning Commission and City Commission meeting.
Those wishing to provide input, but unable to attend can give comments during public comment at the 5:30 meeting or by email to Karen Brower, city clerk, at KBrower@eastgr.org with a written response.
We hope you join us for this open house as we shape the future of East Grand Rapids.
